Vascularization of the heart
Arteries of the heart
The two coronary arteries of the heart, located under the epicardium, are the first branches of the ascending aorta.
Caliber : 3,5 mm.
The right coronary artery
Origin of the right coronary artery
The right coronary artery arises above the right semilunar valve of the aorta.
Path of the right coronary artery
- It passes between the pulmonary trunk and the right atrium.
- It runs around the right edge of the heart, crossing the coronary sulcus.
- It continues into the posterior interventricular groove.
- It then anastomoses with the left coronary artery.
Collateral branches of the right coronary artery
- The right branch of the arterial cone
- The artery of the sinu-atrial node
- The right atrial branch
- the right anterior ventricular arteries
- The anterior right atrial branch
- The right marginal artery
- The intermediate atrial branch
- The posterolateral ventricular branch
- The retroventricular branch
- The artery of the atrioventricular node
- Posterior interventricular septal arteries
The left coronary artery
Origin of the left coronary artery
It arises above the left semilunar valve of the aorta.
Path of the left coronary artery
- She is moving forward.
- It curves backwards and to the left of the pulmonary trunk and passes under the left auricle.
- It travels to the anterior interventricular groove to become the anterior interventricular artery.
- This last one bypasses the incisure of the heart to end in the posterior interventricular groove where it anastomoses with the right coronary artery.
Collateral branches of the left coronary artery
- The artery of the sinu-atrial node (inconstant)
- The left branch of the arterial cone
- The left anterior atrial branch
- Anterior interventricular septal branches
- The 2 to 9 left anterior ventricular arteries including the diagonal artery
- Circumflex artery:
- The left marginal artery
- The intermediate atrial branch
- The posterior branch of the left ventricle
- Posterior atrial artery
Veins of the heart
Coronary sinus
It is the terminal junction of the veins of the heart. It is located on the diaphragmatic side of the heart and opens into the right atrium.
- Length : 3cm
- Width : 1 cm
It drains the following veins:
- Posterior vein of the left ventricle
- large heart vein
- Oblique vein of the left atrium
- Middle vein of the heart
- Small heart vein
Anterior veins of the heart
Minimal heart veins
